What We Believe

In the essential beliefs,
we have unity

"There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."
Ephesians 4:4-6

in the non-essential beliefs, we have liberty

"Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters...Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand...So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God."
Romans 14: 1, 4, & 12

in all our beliefs,
we have harmony

"If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing."
1 Corinthians 13:2

Our Essential Beliefs:

The following are the core beliefs of Twin Lakes Baptist Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

Scripture

We believe that Holy Scripture is comprised of the 39 books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New Testament. We believe in the inerrancy, authority, and sufficiency of these Scriptures.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160; 12:6; Proverbs 30:5

God

We believe that God eternally exists as three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each Person is fully God, yet there is one God. We believe God is a creating God, a holy God, a faithful God, a loving God, and a sovereign God.
Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2;
2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin, fully God and fully man. Jesus lived a perfect life, died to make atonement for sin, rose physically from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven where he sits at the right hand of God, and will return in salvation and judgment at the end of the age.
Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4;  Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13

Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God, created male and female as the crowning work of His creation. However, Adam and Eve sinned when tempted by Satan. In union with Adam, all mankind are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God, and under His wrath.
Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1,2

Salvation

We believe that salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for all who believe. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. Salvation is neither gained nor lost by our own efforts or failures. Those whom God has saved in Christ and sanctified by His Spirit shall persevere to the end.
Matthew 11:28-30; John 1:12-13; 10:26-30; Romans 3:21-26; 5:1-11; 6:23; 8:28-30; 10:9-13; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:3-14; 2:1-10; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:1-5; 2:24

The Church

We believe that a church is a local community of baptized believers, committed together in the faith and fellowship of the gospel. Jesus has given to the church two ordinances – baptism and the Lord’s Supper – which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. The church exists for the worship of God, the nurture of its members, and the evangelization of the world.
Matthew 16:15-1926:26-3028:18-20Acts 2:41-47Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 1:23:16; 11:23-29;  Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 3:8-11; 5:22-32; Colossians 1:18; 2:12; 1 Timothy 3:14-16

Last Things

We believe that at the return of Christ the dead will be raised. Those who do not trust in Christ alone will be raised to everlasting punishment. Those who do trust in Christ alone will be raised to everlasting life and the enjoyment of God’s presence in the new heavens and the new earth.
Matthew 16:2725:31-46Luke 12:40,48; 17:22-37John 14:1-3Acts 1:1117:30-311 Corinthians 4:515:24-2835-582 Corinthians 5:101 Thessalonians 4:14-185:1ff.; 2 Thessalonians 1:7ff.; Hebrews 9:27-282 Peter 3:7ff.; Revelation 1:183:11202122:1-13
